Classic Shrimp Cocktail Appetizer (Printable Version)

# What You'll Need:

→ Shrimp Preparation

01 - 450g large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails left on
02 - 1 lemon, halved
03 - 1 teaspoon salt
04 - 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
05 - 1 bay leaf
06 - Ice cubes for rapid chilling
07 - Fresh parsley, for garnish
08 - Lemon wedges, for garnish

→ Cocktail Sauce

09 - 120ml ketchup
10 - 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
11 - 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
12 - 0.5 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
13 - Dash of hot sauce, optional

# Steps To Follow:

01 - Bring a large saucepan of water to a gentle boil. Add halved lemon, salt, peppercorns, and bay leaf. Add shrimp and simmer for 2–3 minutes, until pink and opaque. Take care not to overcook.
02 - Transfer cooked shrimp immediately to an ice bath to halt the cooking process. Allow to cool for 5–10 minutes. Drain thoroughly and pat shrimp dry with paper towels.
03 - In a bowl, combine ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce if desired. Stir well and refrigerate until serving.
04 - Fill serving glasses with crushed ice. Arrange shrimp around the rim. Place a small bowl of cocktail sauce in the center or within the glass. Garnish with lemon wedges and a sprig of fresh parsley.
