Combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Mix gently and divide into 4 equal portions. Form each into a patty approximately 2 cm thick.

Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Brush lightly with olive oil. Place patties onto the hot surface and grill for 3–4 minutes per side, until internal temperature reaches 70°C.

During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of cheddar cheese. Meanwhile, sauté the bell peppers in a separate pan with remaining olive oil until just tender, about 3 minutes.

Lightly toast bun halves on the grill or in a toaster. Place each patty on a bun base, top with sautéed peppers, and finish with the bun tops. Serve immediately.
